There is a duty to inform and alert populations about disasters in France according to the provisions of the Act No. 2004-811 of 13 August 2004 on the modernization of civil security. Details of how people should be informed can be found in R741-30 Décret No 2014-1253 of 27 October 2014. Although there are no specific policy concerning communication in multiple languages, the Mayors who are in charge of informing citizens about risks could decide if they want integrate several languages. Alerts are sometimes broadcast in French and English, and the app, SAIP (system for warning and information of the population), for example, could be downloaded in French or English languages.
