The World Development Report 2014 also discusses the impacts of political belief systems on disaster prevention policies. The report states how some politicians in the UK and the US are “climate change deniers” and it is this cultural belief that has led to, or could lead to, a lack of preventative measures to protect people and the environment from disasters.
