The role of advocacy/pressure groups in disaster response

It may be worth drawing attention to one of the ways, in which communities organise themselves collectively, to challenge some of the power abuses. The formation of advocacy or pressure groups in the response stage may serve as an effective empowerment mechanism to ensure “checks and balances” on power, and to minimise and limit the spread of further harm.
